Chris Kirby-Ryan
ACCOMPLISHED AUTHOR, EDITOR, PROOF READER

Chris’s love of writing was triggered from an early age, being brought up in a family that owned several cinemas, back in the fifties and sixties. Chris would watch the movies over and over again, inspiring her to create stories of her own.

She entered advertising at the age of eighteen and became a
copywriter, working in many large, multi-national advertising
agencies at senior writer and creative director level. She has had
hundreds of articles and editorials published and has written across a
broad spectrum of media.
Chris opened her own advertising agency in the eighties, then later became a full-time freelance writer, helping others tell their stories and completing several novels of her own.
Chris currently lives in the Brisbane seaside suburb of Redcliffe,
Queensland, with her husband, John.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
MY NOVELS

Grace Draper comes out of emergency surgery to find an empty crib. Now police are looking for little Ella-Louise, the precious daughter she gave birth to just three days ago. Known baby-brokers are under investigation but the detectives just can’t get a break.
Struggling with their marriage, Detective Charlie Draper and his wife Grace commence a desperate search. Was their baby snatched by kidnappers, or is there something more sinister occurring?
With the cat out of the bag, and the wedding no longer a secret, who’d have thought so many Australians would virtually walk over hot coals to get to Macedonia for a wedding? Not Jacki and Sasa – that’s for sure. Now with 150 Australians heading for Macedonia, the wedding is heading for disaster.
Can Sasa rescue this mess or is it time for Shirley to step up and take action? With the big day about to dawn, guests arrive, gowns are finally readied and the little town is abuzz with excitement.
Having escaped from an abusive foster home, Summer lives in fear of her former foster father catching up with her. Rachel simply lives in fear. When the girls get together they realise their lives aren’t really that different after all, and together with the town’s new policewoman, they begin their own investigation.
This whole chain of events steers Melissa and the FBI to the underground world of the outback Australian opal fields and culminates in the collapse of a heinous empire that has been run by the last person anyone would have suspected.
The story follows the trials and tribulations of a family who began a chain of cinemas when WWII was ending, and cinema was bringing new joy and hope to the people. It describes the rise to glory of the Cambridge family, who sold their failing farm after years of drought to finally be wiped out by a bushfire. Carleton Cambridge sets up a make-shift picture theatre in an old grain store.
We journey through the creation of the first grand cinema – the fire that almost destroys it. Romance blooms and turmoil prevails as this cinema empire is born.

Online Publishing and Promotion
Publishing

It’s time to embrace digital technology — publishing has never been easier or more cost effective.
By publishing on Amazon, Kindle and Barnes and Noble you have your printed book ready to order. How many copies do you want? 20, 50, 100? By ordering your printed copies through Amazon you are not spending unnecessary dollars on printing a minimum of 500 books only to be faced with the task of distributing these books.
Your audience can order a printed copy online and they can also read online through Kindle. You will still be paid your royalties, and the best news is — your many avenues to promote your book.

Promoting
Promoting your book online gives you many avenues of social media: Facebook and Instagram being the main focus; however, there are other opportunities with sites such as BookTok and Youtube.
Besides social media it is important to know how to promote your book — what to say, how to say it, who to say it to. Ultimately you would like to be picked up by a mainstream publisher, this is often not the case, but the right publicity campaign can get your book seen and get you the sales and recognition that you are after. As the old saying goes: there is more than one way to skin and cat. (Sorry to all the lovely cats and cat-lovers out there.)
